Extended Project Qualification 2

My EPQ is starting to take shape and I now have these three Obs of intimidating vehicles. I hope to add Bullitt's Ford Mustang and perhaps the Mustang from 'Death Race' or a Truck from 'Convoy' later in the week.

This is a Mack from the film 'Maximum Overdrive' in which machines have a mind of there own and turn on mankind, this truck was chasing a car along a highway without a driver. Although I still dont understand how the car is not affected by the mysterious force.

This is Kowalski's Dodge Challenger from 'Vanishing Point'.

Another drawing where I have picked out the red, this supercharger belongs to the Dodge Charger from 'The Fast and The Furious'.

Extended Project Qualification 1

These are several images of my Final Piece for my EPQ, this is one of my favourite drawings so far. This is the truck from the Movie 'Duel', it is a 1960 Peterbilt 281.

The Driver is never seen in the film as he is obscured in low shots by the nose of the truck.

The truck was 'made up' with oil and grease each day before shooting and was purposefully rusted and aged to suit its role in the film.

Spielberg stated that License Plates represent the Trucks 'Victims'.

This is the entire finished piece which measured around 32 x 48 inches. It probably took me around 40 hours at a guess and is certainly my most ambitious piece of drawing yet.

Aspects of American Realism 1

These are my first three Observational Studies for Year 13. Hopefully I can post a fourth and final Obs next week. These are all inspired by an American realist or photographer, the first being directly inspired by Gerd Winners 'New York Canyon'. The drawings of vehicles took inspiration from the black and white photographer Gordon Osmundson.

The Old Chain of Rocks bridge on the historic Route 66 crossing the Mississippi outside of St. Louis, drawn from a picture I took when I was 11.

This is my second Obs of a 59 Chevrolet Apache.

This is my first Obs for Year 13 which really helped me to get back into precise drawing after the summer.

My Exhibition

This was my exhibition space which contained all of my AS-Level work at the end of year 12.

This is my exam project which started with the stimulus of 'Faded'.

This is my 'Trash' project work.

My whole space. On the back wall in the top right is my reproduction of Jasper Johns - 'Flag' I saw it in MOMA on schools art trip to N.Y. and then made this using the same method of Encaustic wax on newspaper.

Year 12

Just a few images of my Year 12 work.

This was one of my first high quality car drawings, of a Mercedes E-Class.
